PROS
- DOHC Power: Features a 16-valve dual overhead cam engine, a major upgrade from the older SOHC models.
- Refined Handling: Equipped with a sturdy duplex cradle frame and adjustable rear dampers for its time.
- Smooth Delivery: Known for a seamless transition of power from idle to its 9,500 RPM redline.
- Triple Disc Brakes: Dual front discs and a single rear disc provide much better stopping power than older drum setups.
CONS
- Hefty Weight: At 251 kg (553 lbs) wet, it is a heavy machine that requires effort to manhandle at low speeds.
-
- Cold Starts: The four Keihin carburetors and handlebar-mounted choke can be finicky on chilly mornings.
-
- Brake Pumping: The front brakes can feel "spongy" in wet conditions, sometimes requiring a quick pump to bite.
-
- Fuel Thirsty: The large 750cc inline-four typically achieves around 15–20 km/L, which is low by modern standards.
