PROS

  1. DOHC Engine: First year of the dual overhead cam; much more modern power.
  2. 4-into-4 Exhaust: Retains the iconic classic look with four separate mufflers.
  3. Smoothness: Noticeably less vibration than the older SOHC models.
  4. Easy Starting: Features a much-improved CV carburetor setup.

CONS

  1. Rear Drum Brake: Still uses a drum, which is prone to fading under heat.
  2. Weight: It is a large, heavy machine that is difficult to manhandle.
  3. Charging System: Early DOHC models often suffer from weak rotors/stators.
  4. Valve Adjustments: Switched to a shim-and-bucket system; harder to service.
