PROS
- Fuel Injection (PGM-FI): New for 2008; replaces carburetors for smoother throttle response and easier cold starts.
- RR-Derived Engine: Features the updated 2007 CBR600RR motor, retuned for better low-to-midrange torque.
- Aluminum Chassis: Switched from a steel frame to a lighter, more rigid cast-aluminum "mono-backbone" frame.
- Dash Upgrade: New instrument cluster finally includes a fuel gauge, along with indicators for the HISS and EFI systems.
CONS
- Utilitarian Character: Highly functional and reliable, but often described as lacking "soul" or excitement compared to sportier 600s.
-
- Budget Suspension: While now preload-adjustable, the 41mm front forks are still soft and dive under hard braking.
-
- Weight: Despite the aluminum frame, the ABS hardware keeps the wet weight high at 222 kg (489 lbs).
-
- Vibrations: Some owners report "buzzy" high-frequency vibrations through the bars and pegs at highway speeds (80+ mph).
